NearMeU Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

NearMeU is an adults-only nearby social and private messaging service. This policy explains what data is used and how account deletion and serious-safety review work.

Information we process

We process Google account authentication details, nickname and profile information, approximate location for nearby discovery, notification device tokens, and content you choose to send such as messages, photos, videos, voice messages and documents.

Location

Location is used for nearby-user discovery and, only when you explicitly choose it in chat, for a one-time current-location link. Exact location is not displayed publicly in Nearby.

Messages and shared content

Private chats are intended only for the participating users and are not displayed publicly. Content already shared with another user may remain in that user's conversation history after you delete your account.

Safety detection and limited review

NearMeU may use automated safety systems to detect serious safety signals in private messages. A rule match is only a signal and does not automatically mean a violation occurred. When a serious safety signal or user report requires review, authorized moderators may review the relevant message and a limited amount of surrounding conversation context. Moderators are not provided a general-purpose private-chat browser for this process. Safety access and moderation actions may be logged for accountability.

Cloud retention

NearMeU is designed to keep private chat cloud data for a short retention period while maintaining local device history. Eligible private media may be removed from cloud storage after the recipient successfully downloads it. Remaining private chat cloud data is subject to the service retention policy.

Account deactivation

Deactivation is reversible. It hides your public profile and signs you out while keeping saved account state so that signing in again with the same Google account can reactivate your profile.

Permanent account deletion

NearMeU provides a separate permanent deletion action inside Settings. After Google account verification, NearMeU deletes the Firebase Authentication account, public and private profile data, device tokens, blocks, reports, local account data, profile-photo storage and sender-owned private cloud media. If cleanup cannot finish immediately, it is queued for retry. Shared messages already delivered to another participant may remain in that participant's history.

Third-party services

NearMeU uses Google Sign-In and Firebase services for authentication, database, Cloud Functions, Storage, notifications, app integrity and operational diagnostics. These providers process data under their own privacy terms.

Advertising and consent

NearMeU may display advertising provided through Google AdMob. Depending on your region and Google requirements, NearMeU may use Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request or manage advertising consent before ad requests are made.

Where required, you can review or change applicable advertising privacy choices from the Ad privacy choices option in NearMeU Settings. Google and its advertising partners may process information such as device identifiers, app interactions and advertising-related data in accordance with their own privacy policies and consent requirements.

Age requirement and child safety

NearMeU is intended only for adults aged 18 years or older. Grooming, sexual exploitation, sextortion, trafficking, CSAM and attempts to arrange sexual contact with minors are prohibited.

Child Safety: Read NearMeU Child Safety standards.
